1. Photo Johann Frederick BROTZMAN1 was born in 1696 in Württemberg. He immigrated on 28 Oct 1738 to Philadelphia, PA. He died in Apr 1760 in Williams Township, Northampton Co., PA. Johann was reported to be a shoemaker in Wuerttemberg, the son of Heinrich Brotzman. The almost century of war, and recent cold winters and famine, turned Johann's mind toward the new world. Johann brought his family, aboard the ship "Thistle of Glasgow", under Capt. George Houston, sailed from Rotterdam, lastly from Cowes, to a landing in Philadelphia, 28 Oct 1738. Two sons, George Christian and Johann Konrad were too young for the trip and came to America at a later date. The family first settled in Bucks County, along the Delaware river and later moved northward to Northampton County, south of Easton, PA. Johann's will is dated 3 April 1760, apparantly written on his death bed. Maria outlived Johann; but her death is unknown. Johann and Maria are buried in the Easton area. Got a note off rootsweb that the children were born at Pirmasens, Pfalz, Bavaria.
