Johann Frederick
BROTZMAN1 was born in
1696 in Württemberg. He immigrated on 28 Oct 1738 to Philadelphia,
PA. He died in Apr 1760 in Williams Township, Northampton Co., PA.
Johann was reported to be a shoemaker in Wuerttemberg, the son of Heinrich Brotzman.
The almost century of war, and recent cold winters and famine, turned Johann's
mind toward the new world. Johann brought his family, aboard the ship "Thistle
of Glasgow", under Capt. George Houston, sailed from Rotterdam, lastly from
Cowes, to a landing in Philadelphia, 28 Oct 1738. Two sons, George Christian
and Johann Konrad were too young for the trip and came to America at a later
date. The family first settled in Bucks County, along the Delaware river and
later moved northward to Northampton County, south of Easton, PA. Johann's will
is dated 3 April 1760, apparantly written on his death bed. Maria outlived Johann;
but her death is unknown. Johann and Maria are buried in the Easton area. Got
a note off rootsweb that the children were born at Pirmasens, Pfalz, Bavaria. Johann
Frederick BROTZMAN and Maria Barbara WEBER were married on 5 May 1722 in Pirmasens,
Württemberg. Maria Barbara WEBER1 was born on 1 Jun 1701 in Pirmasens,
Württemberg. She immigrated on 28 Oct 1738 to Philadelphia,
PA. Daughter of George Wilheim Weber and Maria Eva Faul. George
was the chief forester of Pirmasens. Johann Frederick BROTZMAN and Maria Barbara
