Reider Family of the Oley Valley

The above photo is an old mill I've identified as the mill of Jacob Hoch Reider, Pike Township. I have never been able to positively identify the Reider emigrant. I link in three sons to Johannes and Anna Carl so the line prints out; but have found no records to positively tie them in. It's quite probable there are many unrelated Reider families. The family name is suppose to have it's origin with "one who rides a horse." Certainly a common surname source.

Special Notes: You will find a number of Unk surnames in this data. In all cases the term is short for unknown. Also look for a little camera icon beside a name. A click will lead to a picture.

A Reider reunion is held each year at the Mountain Springs Campsite, just north of Shartlesville, PA. From the I-78 Shartlesville exit, turn north. Lunch is served at 12:30 pm, no charge; but bring a covered dish to share, desert is always nice. The reunion is always the 4th Sunday in June, (27 June 2010). All Reiders are welcomed, as they were at the first reunion in 1927. I attend with my computer and latest data, always willing to share and receive and would love to add your photos to the database.
